English all-rounder Liam Livingstone wrote his name in the history books as he smashed a world-record 350 off just 138 deliveries for his county club Nantwich in a National Club Championship match against Caldy.
The young all-rounder smashed 34 fours and 27 sixes in his mammoth effort, which is the highest one-day score in any form. He is on Lancashire's professional staff but is yet to play a first-team match.
Livingstone said that from 100 onwards, he was just trying to whack every ball for six, adding that when he got into the high 200s and into the 300s, he realised that something quite special could happen, the BBC reported.
The previous world record was held by Indian batsman Nikhilesh Surendran, 15, who made 334 not out in an inter-school fixture in Hyderbad.
With Livingstone's contribution, Nantwich went on to score 579-7 and then bowled out Caldy for 79 to win by 500 runs. However, things could have been very different for the Lancashire all-rounder, who was nearly bowled out in the third ball of his innings.
Livingstone then smashed his fourth ball for six, which he admitted changed his mindset as he went on to deliver the mammoth innings. He said that the wicket was a bit slow and after the fourth ball disappeared he thought that he might as well just give it a crack.
The all-rounder said that he was just trying to hit almost every ball for six and luckily a few came out of the middle, adding that it is all a bit surreal. He admitted that it hasn't sunk in yet but claimed that it is a very proud day and luckily his parents were there to see it.
