Mercedes chairman and Formula One legend Niki Lauda has said that Grand Prix stewards must stop 'nannying' drivers because they are wrecking the sport.

Lauda said that officials should leave drivers to race, even if there is a punch-up.

According to the Mirror, Lauda said that the system is a 'joke' and drivers are now so worried about getting punished for even attempting to overtake it is destroying the motor racing sport.

The legendary Austrian said that the public leaves Formula One because they are not racers any more.

Lauda said that all the probing has to be stopped, adding that if after the race somebody wants to protest because of it being unfair then he should do it, but it costs a lot of money, lawyers and lots of bulls**t, so this would not happen.
