Facebook's security chief has reportedly said that it was a good thing that people have now started to care more about security following the controversial NSA leaks by whistleblower Edward Snowden.

Facebook's chief security officer, Joe Sullivan, said that the Internet companies have fundamentally changed the way they do things.

According to Cnet, the security boss stayed off providing any opinion on Snowden, but revealed that the biggest change following the revelation was the attention to the topic, adding that a world where people care about security was a 'silver lining.'

Last week, it was revealed that one NSA programme, dubbed Turbine, was being used to hack into millions of computers, with a use of a spam Facebook server to gain access to target's computers.

Sullivan said that Facebook has been encrypting information stores traveling between data centers before the mega NSA revelations, the report added.
