The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress on Tuesday demanded that Delhi Law Minister Jitender Singh Tomar should be sacked after a Bihar-based university informed the Delhi High Court that his law degree was fake.

"It's an irony that a man who had been playing with law all these years, the man who has graduated in breaking law has become the protector of law in Delhi. He should definitely be sacked," BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said.

"The law will take its own course and catch up with him, but the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today has been completely exposed," he added.

BJP leader Meenakshi Lekhi also echoed similar sentiments and said that this is a very serious matter as it involves the Law Minister himself.

"I want to ask how such a person was given charge of the ministry. Why is he still continuing in his office?" she said.

Meanwhile, Congress leader Ajay Maken threatened to hold a demonstration outside the Delhi Secretariat on Thursday if Tomar is not sacked.

"Even after pointing it out to Arvind Kejriwal, we don't understand why the minister is still at his position," Maken said.

According to reports, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has sought a clarification from Tomar on the issue.

Earlier on Monday, the Delhi High Court was informed by a Bihar-based university that Tomar's provisional certificate is 'fabricated and does not exist in the institution's record'.

Bhagalpur's Tilak Manjhi University has filed an affidavit stating Tomar's provisional certificate is 'fabricated and doesn't exist in their record'.

According to reports, the High Court has asked the Bar Council of Delhi to file its inquiry report against the AAP leader by August 20.
