The Federal Bureau of Investigation had reportedly placed a confidential human source in the al Qaeda group, who was in direct contact with Osama bin Laden in 1993, according to the court records reviewed by The Washington Times.

The source is said to have intimated the bureau of a terrorist plot against a Masonic lodge in Los Angeles, which was later thwarted.

Edward J. Curran, a former top official in the FBI's Los Angeles office, told the court in support of a discrimination lawsuit filed against the bureau by his former agent Bassem Youssef that it was the only source he knew in the bureau where we had a source right in al Qaeda, directly involved.

The testimony was made in 2010 amid much secrecy, in essentially an empty courtroom, escaping media attention.

Meanwhile, it still remains unknown as to how the information was scrapped from the various congressional reviews and the 9/11 Commission report.
