Three labourers died after a woollen factory in Ludhiana caught fire early on Monday morning.
Fire tenders are at the spot to douse the flames.
According to fire officials, the labourers died due to suffocation as they were locked inside and could not escape.
The factory owner had reportedly locked the labourers in to prevent them from running away.
"We got the information at around 8:15 am that a woolen factory had caught fire. We immediately sent four to five cars of fire brigade at the spot. I also reached along with the officials and personnel. We extinguished the fire within half an hour and after that when we searched inside the factory we got three casualties which we handed over to the police," said the official.
Of the three victims, one hailed from Uttar Pradesh. The address of the other two is yet to be ascertained.
