First meeting of SIT on black money to be held today

The first high-level meeting of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on black money and special probe into cases of unaccounted funds stashed by Indians abroad, will be held here today.

The meeting, to be chaired by Justice (Retd.) MB Shah, will be attended by SIT Vice-Chairman Justice (Retd.) Arijit Pasayat and top officials of 11 high-profile agencies and departments.

According to sources from the media reports the meeting is expected to discuss policy matters on combating the menace of black money and the status of ongoing probes.

Following the Supreme Court's decision asking the Union Government to constitute an SIT- - the Government had notified the creation of a high -profile SIT on May 27. It comprises of top bosses of the country's premier investigation, enforcement and intelligence agencies.
