Foreign Office dubs Modi's anti-Pak 'terror remark' regrettable

Describing Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's terror remark against Pakistan as 'regrettable', the Foreign Office in Islamabad has said that it corroborated the nation's stance on India's negative role against a sovereign neighbouring state.

Foreign Office spokesperson Qazi M. Khalilullah in a statement noted it was 'regrettable' that Indian politicians not only indulged in actions that violated the United Nations' Charter, but also took pride in recalling their interference in the internal affairs of other states, reported The Express Tribune.

Addressing the Dhaka University students during his recent two-day visit to Bangladesh, Modi had accused Pakistan of creating "nuisance" and constantly troubling India by promoting terrorism.

The spokesperson stressed that Pakistan believed in maintaining good neighbourly relations and peaceful co-existence with India, but added that the characterisation of the bilateral relations between the two neighbours as 'nuisance' by Modi was 'unfortunate'.

Asserting that the people of Pakistan and Bangladesh were bound not only by the strong bonds of religious affinity but also by the history of their struggle for independence, Khalilullah warned that India's attempts to "sow discord" between the "two brotherly nations" will not succeed.
