India's Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale on Tuesday met Vice Foreign Minister of China, Kong Xuanyou in New Delhi, to hold consultations on the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit.
As per a release by the External Affairs Ministry, the two leaders reviewed the follow-up action on the understandings formed in the Wuhan informal summit.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Xi Jinping had held an informal summit at the Chinese city of Wuhan in April last week during which they exchanged views on solidifying the relationship between the two Asian giants.
At the informal summit, the two leaders had decided to issue "strategic guidance" to their militaries to strengthen communications to build trust and understanding, which was seen as a move to avoid a Dokalam-like situation in the future.
Gokhale and Kong further held talks on the preparations of the SCO summit scheduled to be held in China's Qingdao from June 7 to 10.
Also the agenda for the bilateral Indo-China summits scheduled to be held on the sideline of the SCO summit and otherwise was being discussed in the meeting.
The two sides also exchanged views on regional and international issues of common interest.
Later, Kong called on National Security Advisor, Ajit Doval to hold talks.
This comes a day after External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj held talks with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi on the sidelines of the BRICS ministerial meeting held in South Africa's Johannesburg.
