Fourteen killed, 20 injured as bus overturns in Jharkhand

At least 14 people were killed while 20 others were injured in a road accident as bus overturned in Godda district of Jharkhand.

The people in the bus were returning from a marriage party when the driver, who was drunk, lost control and the vehicle overturned, police said.

The injured have been admitted in a hospital in the district, where seven of them were reported to be critical.

Twelve were found dead on the spot and later, two succumbed to their injuries in the hospital.

Police said investigations were under way .

"The villagers have taken people out of the bus and rushed to the hospital for treatment. Six have been killed on the spot and six have been reported dead at the hospital. As per the process, they will get the compensation and after post mortem, the dead bodies will be sent to their home," said Officer in charge from the Paoraiyahat police station, Rajesh Kumar.

Meanwhile, the driver is still absconding.
