A three-day friendly shooting championship between the Border Security Force and the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) kicked off here to promote friendly ties between the two forces.

A team comprising 14 personnel each from both sides is participating in the structured championship, where the participants will have to shoot targets from different positions.

On the occasion, a placard bearing the message, "Indo-Bangladesh Friendship", was also released and was lifted in air by balloons.

"The relationship between India and Bangladesh is improving gradually, therefore, it is imperative on our part that both forces - the BSF and the BGB - maintain good relationship. The shooting championship is a step in the same direction. It also helps to eliminate differences between the two forces in informal manner, and it has borne a positive result thus far," said BSF Inspector General (IG), Frontier Headquarters, North Bengal, Kamal Nayan Choubey, while speaking to ANI.

BGB additional director Major Nuruddin said the shooting competition would help strengthen the relationship between the two forces and to resolve small differences on both sides of the border.

When asked as to who will win the tournament - BSF or BGB - the IG said whoever wins, the championship is taking place in such a friendly environment that both sides will be happy.
