National Overseas Congress chief Juned Kazi resigns

Indian National Overseas Congress president Juned Kazi has resigned from his post, following the announcement made by Congress leader Karan Singh in Delhi that Kazi was no longer the president of the overseas affairs of the party.

"I have been working for the Congress Party for so long, and if my party fails to acknowledge me, it doesn't make any sense to me to continue with the Congress Party," said Kazi, adding that he had tendered his resignation to the offices of Congress president Sonia Gandhi, vice-president Rahul Gandhi, Karan Singh and the office of the Congress Party.

When asked whereabouts of Rahul Gandhi in an interview by a television channel, said Kazi, he had answered that he had no intimation from Gandhi's office, however, according to his sources, Gandhi was in Aspen in the United States but not attending Charlie Rose's programme neither was his name figured among the name of speakers at the programme.

Kazi claimed that for his statement, the Congress leaders in Delhi were not supporting him, and as a result, statement of Karan Singh had come.

"Even as the condition of the Congress Party is bad after the Lok Sabha elections, it fails to understand the importance of NRIs' support, especially the NRIs living in the United States, and is ignoring them. And thus, I resigned," said Kazi.

He claimed that he came to know about Rahul Gandhi's Aspen tour from a newspaper, but found him absent from the Charlie Rose's programme.
