Gazza being supported by ex-club Tottenham post being put on three-day detox: Reports

Former England international Paul Gascoigne, popularly known as Gazza, is reportedly being supported by his ex-club, Tottenham Hotspur, after it was reported that he had been placed on an emergency three-day detox.

Medics reportedly sectioned Gazza under the Mental Health Act on Friday after a drinking binge.

A spokesman for Tottenham said that they are aware of the situation with Gazza and continue to offer their support, The Guardian reported.

Gazza's close friend and former Tottenham teammate Gary Mabbutt said that the former midfielder hasn't been well for the past couple of weeks, adding that he wants to get better and has asked for help.

Mabbutt said that Gazza is being looked after very well, adding that the former England international has got a lot of support around him. He also said that he could not confirm the report that Gazza had been sectioned.

Police were reportedly called to Gazza's home in Poole, Dorset, at around on Thursday and officers were with him when he went to hospital early on Friday.

A source revealed that Gazza arrived at the hospital surrounded by police and doctors, and added that the former footballer was not in a good state and they were really worried about him.

The source also revealed that Gazza had been medically assessed during the afternoon before and was deemed to be okay, adding that then something obviously happened and he was put on a three-day detox.
