Germany's foreign intelligence agency reportedly spied on the United States Secretary of State John Kerry and his forerunner Hillary Clinton.
According to reports, German intelligence agency accidentally collected calls and destroyed the recordings immediately.
German spies had eavesdropped on Hillary Clinton while she was the U.S. Secretary of State, reports the BBC.
A spokesperson of the U.S. embassy in Berlin refused to comment on the issue.
Germany had earlier accused the United States intelligence organizations of spying on Chancellor Angela Merkel which had also lead to the expulsion of the head of the CIA from Germany.
Relations between U.S. and Germany have become weak following the accusations of spying on American intelligence agencies.
