Former World number one Maria Sharapova has asked for an unscheduled press conference to make what her agent calls a "major announcement."
Sharapova's agent Max Eisenbud, however declined to elaborate the topic of announcement, which is scheduled to take place in Los Angeles on Monday.
The announcement came after the 28-year-old withdrew from the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells due to a left forearm injury, Sport24 reported.
The seventh-ranked has not played any tournament since losing to world number one Serena Williams in the Australian Open quarterfinals in January.
