The Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) rights activist Anand Grover on Monday said that the statement made by Goa Sports Minister Ramesh Tawadkar to set up centres to make LGBT youth 'normal' is unfortunate.
"It is unfortunate that a Minister is making such a reprehensible comment. This Government is used to making outlandish comments," he said.
"Barack Obama is coming to India; they should ask him whether gay people are 'abnormal', he added.
Another LGBT right activist Rituparna said, "This is ridiculous, it's like we're moving backwards."
According to reports, Tawadkar said that the LGBT youth would be trained and administered medicine in order to make them 'normal'.
