Congress leader Mukesh Sharma on Sunday described Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung's decision to deny electricity to shopping malls in the city at 10 p.m. and turning off street lights will affect the security scenario in the city.

"The Governor has ordered that after 10 pm malls wont get any light, and street light will be switched off. This, I believe, will increase the danger and security situation in the city," Sharma said.

He also slammed BJP and said that Congress will not keep quiet on this issue.

"Congress is not going to keep quiet on this issue ; BJP only promised good days but not good nights," he said.

Earlier today, Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung has reportedly called for some strict measures in a meeting to tide over the power crisis in the city.

According to media sources Jung has directed that the power supply to shopping malls in Delhi will not be made available after 10 pm.

He has also ordered all government offices, including Delhi Secretariat, and universities and colleges to switch off the air conditioners between 3:30 and 4:30 pm.

Discoms have also been advised to inform when there is less supply of power.

The city is facing severe power cuts after a storm on May 30, which was accompanied by winds at speeds of over

90-kmph, plunged most areas of the city into darkness as uprooted trees snapped power lines.
