A computed tomography (CT) scanner and ophthalmology unit was inaugurated at CGS Hospital DLF Phase 3, Gurugram recently. The inauguration was followed by a mesmerizing performance of Shubha Mudgal, the famous Hindustani classical singer.
The CT scan machine for pets with the price of 2 Crore will be first in India. Presently, machines that are used for humans scan pets too. The new machine will make the surgical approach easier and reduce the surgical time as the installment of these will aid the veterinarians in spotting the exact location of the tumors. With the help of this, the levels of canine and feline cancers could be better recognized. Also, it could prove to be helpful in cases of injuries.
The new ophthalmology unit will help to treat eye-related ailments including cataract which has become common in dogs. In India, the treatment of this is currently not available. CGS Hospital is a part of Charitable Trust under DLF Foundation, the philanthropic arm of DLF Ltd. The hospital extends over a large area of more than one acre. Services like diagnostic endoscopy, laparoscopy, echocardiography, and minimally invasive orthopedic surgery are provided by it.
"Heart disease, diabetes, and kidney stones have become common among dogs and cats and there is a need to have medical advancements in veterinary hospitals. We aim to set high standards in pet care and the CT scan and ophthalmology unit will help us serve her furry friends more efficiently," said Director, CGS hospital, Samar S. Mahendran.
"I have two pets and CGS hospital and its team have given them the best of the care. In fact, one of my pet was very serious a month back and his life was saved by Dr. Mahendran and his team at CGS hospital. I will always be thankful to them for this. My pets loves to visit CGS hospital and the hospital apart from having the finest of the infrastructure and services has a very warm human touch which makes it different," said Shubha Mudgal, an ardent pet lover.
Shubha Mudgal sang some of his well-known songs like 'Seekho na naino ki bhasha piya' which left the audience spellbound.

With 24 hour service, the hospital also gives emergency services from 7 p.m. to 8 a.m. It advances its treatment to stray dogs and cats as well.
