Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat on Friday denied making the controversial remark on cow slaughter and dared the news agency, which reported it, to prove that he had made such a remark.

"I have already said what i had actually said. My statement has been misreported and i do not have anything to do with the malicious report. Now it is up to the agency to prove that Harish Rawat had said such a thing, the recording of my speech is available," Rawat told ANI.

According to reports, Uttarakhand Chief Minister had yesterday said that that people who slaughter cows have "no right to live in the country".

"Anyone who kills cows, no matter which community he belongs to, is India's biggest enemy and has no right to live in the country," Rawat had reportedly said at a function in Haridwar.

Last month, Haryana Chief Minister ML Khattar had drawn major flak for saying that Muslims should give up beef if they wanted to live in India.
