Haryana's Health Minister Anil Vij on Tuesday said that a three-member committee has been constituted to probe the Ambala cataract surgery incident in which around 15 persons have lost their eyesight.

"We have constituted a three-member committee, which will probe the matter...They are being given medical treatment, the eyesight of 14 out of 15 people is improving," Vij told ANI.

Meanwhile, the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Ambala, Vinod Gupta, said that no permission was sought from the government before conducting the surgery camp.

"No permissions were sought before conducting eye surgery camp by this charitable hospital," he said.

Around 15 persons have lost their eyesight after a surgery at a health camp organised by a charitable trust in Ambala.

The surgery to cure cataract was reportedly performed on November 24.

According to reports, the victims realised that they were blinded a day after the surgery when the bandages around their eyes were opened. There was a panic in the camp when many complained of similar issues, following which they were rushed to PGI Chandigarh.
