The Samajwadi Party on Saturday said that there is a need to introspect as why the minor girl who was killed after Hema Malini's Mercedes collided with another car in Rajasthan's Dausa district was not rushed to the hospital along with the BJP MP.

Samajwadi Party spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia said the girl would have been alive if she had been taken to the hospital at the right time.

"Hema Malini was rushed to the hospital and that was the right thing to do and nobody can have any objection to that. However, the serious concern right now is why was the four-year-old child also not rushed to the hospital? This is something that we need to dwell on. We need to introspect how we could afford to lose the life of a four-year-old," said Bhatia.

"Even the father of the child has also said that had the child been rushed to the hospital along with Hema Malini may be she would have survived. It is a very painful incident. And we need to introspect so that such incidents don't happen in the future," he added.

The mishap occurred on July 2 when the actress' Mercedes collided with an Alto car. The accident, which occurred near Jaipur, left the girl child dead and three others injured.

The actress, who was being treated for head wounds, has been discharged from the hospital.

Malini's driver, who was arrested in connection with the accident, was later granted bail.
