Hillary Clinton dodged a shoe thrown by a woman while delivering a speech at Mandalay Bay hotel in Las Vegas.
According to a US Secret Service spokesman, Ms Clinton continued with her remarks even after the incident.
Secret Service spokesman George Ogilvie said the woman who threw the shoe at Ms Clinton wasn't an invited guest; he also asserted that she had been spotted by Secret Service agents and hotel security guards before the incident and when they approached her she threw a shoe.
He added that the woman was immediately taken into custody by the Secret Service and hotel security.
