The Indian Metrological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for 'heavy to very heavy rainfall' in Dehradun, Nainital, Pauri, Haridwar and Almora regions of Uttarakhand in the next 48 hours.
Incessant rains and floods have wreaked havoc in the state for quite some time. Several places had reported landslides leading to blockage of more than 300 roads in the entire state.
As per reports, 11 people have been killed across the state in road accidents and landslides in the past two days.
Bhagirathi, Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers in the state have been flowing close to the danger mark, prompting authorities to evacuate people living close to the rivers to safer locations.
According to data released by the IMD, Uttarakhand received 70 percent surplus rainfall between July 14 and 20, with all districts in the state recording above normal rainfall, barring Udham Singh Nagar and Champawat district.
