India have set Zimbabwe a target of 295 to win in the second one-day international that is being played between the two sides at the Harare Sports Club grounds here.

Recovering from a 65 for 4 slump, India ended up with a monumental score of 294 for the loss of eight wickets of 50 overs.

The challenging total was made possible thanks to a blistering knock of 116 by opener Shikhar Dhawan, which included 11 boundaries and two sixes. Dhawan scored his century off 127 balls. He was ably assisted by wicket-keeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik, who scored 69 off 74 balls with six boundaries.

The other major contributor to the Indian total was Karnataka fast bowler R. Vinay Kumar, who chipped in with 27 of 12 deliveries. His knock included two boundaries and two sixes.

For Zimbabwe, left-arm fast bowler B.V. Vitori claimed two wickets for 27 off eight overs. K. M. Jarvis, T.L. Chatara, P. Utseya and S.C. Williams chipped in with a wicket each.

Earlier, hosts Zimbabwe elected to field first after winning the toss.
