With football having gripped the whole world in frenzy, fans in India were not far behind in celebrating the victory of Germany over Argentina in the World Cup final as the tournament came to a conclusion.
Almost a thousand football fans came together in Goa to watch the final of the FIFA World Cup live on a screen with their faces painted and holding flags of their favourite teams.
Goa's Brendon D'Souza, who is a Germany supporter, said that Germany deserved to win, adding that there is no doubt that Argentina came very close and Lionel Messi played really well, but one cannot say as it was bad luck for Alejandro Sabella's men.
Soccer fans even cheered and danced in New Delhi and Kerala, as they watched the final of the FIFA World Cup.
People in Guwahati cheered and blew horns while watching the match. A fan said that Argentina kept on moving ahead in the World Cup and reached the final, but the final belonged to Germany.
Another fan from Guwahati said that Lionel Messi missed a chance to score a goal else Argentina would have won the match.
Even fans in Kolkata were not far behind as they burst crackers and rejoiced as Germany won the final by one goal, courtesy of Mario Goetze, who volleyed in extra time to deprive Argentina of a chance to win the World Cup.
A Germany fan, Rahul said that he is feeling great as Germany has won after so many years and after 2002, adding that they deserved it and won after 24 years.
The World Cup ended in a fitting manner with Goetze scoring 171st goal of the tournament that tied the record set in France in 1998.
