An Indian-origin student has been arrested in the United States for stabbing his childhood friend to death after catching him allegedly having an affair with his girlfriend.
Rahul Gupta was arrested on charges of killing his high school friend Mark Edward Waugh, 23, a Georgetown University law student after a birthday celebration.
According to the Huffington Post, Gupta, a biomedical engineering student at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. had just turned 24, and saw his best friend and girlfriend cheating on him.
It is still unclear if Waugh and Gupta's girlfriend were in fact engaged in the activity that spurred the stabbing, an anonymous law enforcement official said.
Nancy Waugh, the victim's mother, revealed that Gupta and her son had been 'best friends' since meeting at Langley High School, adding that it was shocking that his best friend had stabbed him.
