Iraqi Army helicopter crashes, kills three

An Iraqi Army helicopter on Sunday crashed, in south of Baghdad, killing three persons.

The Russian-made M17 helicopter was on a training mission when it crashed in Al-Shorjh area in Wasit province, reported Turkey's Anadolu Agency, citing a military statement.

The cause of the accident was not immediately known.

According to the local media reports, Iraq's Defence Ministry had earlier reported seven deaths in Sunday's tragic crash, however, in accordance with the final report on the mishap, the number of deaths has been three.

The province is located about 100 miles (160 kilometers) southeast of Baghdad, far from the front lines of the war with the Islamic State group.
