ISIS claims responsibility for Libya attack

The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS) has claimed responsibility for the gruesome attack on the Foreign Ministry building here that left three people dead and injured 18.

One of the deceased victims was a high-ranking official who was in office when three men, armed with machine guns, stormed into the building on Tuesday.

The terrorist outfit staked its claim through a statement released by its Amaq news agency, according to CNN. No proof to support the claim has been released yet.

One of the gunmen is believed to have died when an explosion rocked the top floor of the building.

"Such attacks will not undermine the determination of Libyans to build their state of democracy and law," Libya's Foreign Minister Mohamed Siala said during a presser.

"This attack will not discourage the ministry staff from serving Libya and the Libyan people," he further said.

There has been severe condemnation towards the attack, with the United Nations (UN) Support Mission in Libya stating, "We will work with the Libyan people to prevent terrorist groups from turning Libya into a haven or an arena for their crimes.
