From the plains of the pink city, the Jaipur Literary Festival (JLF) plans to move to the United States of America this year. Boulder in the state of Colorado will be the host city for JLF this September.

After going to the United Kingdom last year with a show at Southbank, the festival to be held from September 18 to 20 is looking to increase its footprint in the U.S.

Jaipur Literature Festival, which began in 2008, is co-directed by authors Namita Gokhale and William Dalrymple and produced by Sanjoy Roy and Teamwork Arts.

The festival will feature more than 100 notable writers, thinkers, poets and performers in a three-day edition that is being touted as 'the greatest literary show on earth'.

"The festival aims to create a democratic, culturally, intellectually and creatively stimulating platform, bringing together a multitude of ideas into a free flowing dialogue," says Sanjoy Roy.

He adds that the festival has often been viewed as an agenda-setter on key issues from the global economic crisis to the rise of e-books, the current state of politics in the Middle East to the increasing importance of cross language translations in publishing.

Some of the speakers confirmed for the festival include international best-selling author Jung Chang, Pulitzer Prize winning poet Vijay Seshadri, Morroccan-American essayist and novelist Laila Lalami, Israeli journalist, political commentator and author Gideon Levy, Chinese-American best-selling author Anchee Min, and journalist, historian and award-winning author Simon Sebag Montefiore.

"Boulder is a long way from Jaipur and we are proud to erect our literary 'Big Top' in town and to bring the energy, sparkle and brilliance of Indian writing to a very different world," said William Dalrymple, the author and co-director of the Jaipur Literature Festival. (ANI)
