'Janata Parivar is confederation of losers': BJP

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday alleged that the Janata Parivar is a confederation of losers and said that the 'intelligent' people of Bihar would give them a befitting reply in the years to come.

"Janata Parivar is a confederation of losers. Every second day, we hear of meeting and meeting. There is no conclusive logical end to any of these meetings. They have been talking about merger since long, but we have seen that this merger is leading nowhere," said BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra.

"In fact, it is nothing, but play of ego between these various opportunist parties. The ego to satisfy their own satiety for power not to see that development is being ushered in Bihar. People of Bihar are intelligent. They are seeing through the nefarious intentions of these merger parties and they will give them a befitting reply in the years to come," he added.

The BJP's reaction came ahead of the Janata Parivar meeting scheduled to take place in the national capital to arrive at an understanding over the alliance and its leadership for the Bihar polls.

Meanwhile, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar met Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi at his residence here today as the talks on alliance to take on BJP in Bihar polls gained momentum.

On April 15, six political parties-including the Janata Dal (United), Lalu Prasad Yadav's Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Samajwadi Party-had announced a merger to revive the united Janata Party. Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav was named the president of the merged entity.

However, not much progress has been made so far as serious differences cropped up on the question of who will be the chief ministerial candidate between the RJD and JD (U) for the upcoming Bihar Assembly polls.
