Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren terms jeering incident "unfortunate"

Jharkhand Chief Minister (CM) Hemant Soren today said that the jeering which he reportedly received today upon sharing the dais with PM Narendra Modi was unfortunate.

The Jharkhand CM was speaking at the inauguration of the National Digital Literacy Mission in Ranchi when he was jeered by PM Modi's supporters.

"We had informed the PMO about this earlier itself, and if such an incident happens, then it is unfortunate," Soren told ANI.

"It was an event organized by the government of India and more than us, I think that the Prime Minister should be sensitive. Our traditions, manners are being forced. I think that party organization and government are two separate things and the PM should consider this," he added.

"We also organize government events and invite various political units and give them proper respect. Such an incident has never happened before in this state," he further said.

Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda had said Tuesday that he would not attend any event in the future in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi would be a part.

Hooda had felt that Tuesday's government-sponsored foundation stone-laying event of the 166-kilometer-long Kaithal-Rajasthan border highway had been converted into a political rally by the latter for the benefit of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

"I will not attend any such event in future as no respect was given to us. This was a government function and I was invited for it. But the BJP turned it into their own event," he said.
