A Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) PhD scholar was today arrested for allegedly raping a 26-year-old girl on the pretext of marrying her.
The victim registered a complaint against the accused Ajay Singh at South Delhi's Vasant Kunj Police station yesterday.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Ishwar Singh told ANI that the accused has been arrested, adding the victim knew him since 2008.
"JNU PhD student Ajay Singh has been arrested on charges of rape. The victim had complained to the police yesterday that she knew this boy from 2008," he said.
As per the victim, the accused had been making false marriage promises since 2010.
