'Jungle raj', 'jantar mantar ka raj' have joined hands to destroy Bihar: PM

Continuing its tirade against Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that 'jungle raj' and 'jantar mantar ka raj' have joined hands to destroy Bihar.

"Bihar has tolerated 'jungle raj'. People were being looted. Now 'jungle raj' has got its twin brother. 'Jungle raj' and 'jantar mantar ka raj' have come together to destroy Bihar. Those who don't believe in democracy do black magic. Don't let these two come together, otherwise it will only destroy Bihar," Prime Minister Modi said while addressing an election rally here.

"Your fate won't change unless there is change in Bihar. I assure you all the BJP-led NDA Government will be formed on the 8th," he added.

The Prime Minister alleged that the leaders in Bihar are not allowing progress.

"They have become a burden on Bihar. Nitish feels defeated from within and it is difficult for him to survive," he said.

Prime Minister Modi also held the duo responsible for rampant illiteracy in the state.

Displaying a memorandum that was sent to him by the local villagers, he said the thumb impressions on the document which indicated the illiteracy of the people was most saddening.

Asserting that this was nothing but 'criminal negligence' by the 'brothers', Prime Minister Modi held the duo responsible for the pathetic state of affairs in the state.

Prime Minister Modi also appealed to the people, particularly the youth, to vote in large numbers.

"Tourism has such power in Bihar that it can provide employment to poorest of the poor. I have worked for the Ganga ghat development. I have full faith that Bihar's water and its youth will bring victory in Bihar and change its fate," he said.

Meanwhile, aggressive voting has been registered in Bihar during the fourth phase of polling with an estimated 35.68 percent voter turnout recorded till noon.

Over 1.20 lakh jawans of security forces have been deployed and security forces staged a flag march in sensitive areas to instill confidence among electorates.

Polling time in 43 constituencies is 7 am to 5 pm, while in four Naxal-affected constituencies, it will conclude at 3 pm and in eight constituencies at 4 pm.

Voting in the fourth phase of assembly elections, involving 55 assembly constituencies has begun on Sunday.

A total of 1, 46, 93,294 electors are eligible to cast vote in 13,535 polling stations to select their representatives from among 776 candidates in the fray.

The fifth and the final round of elections will be held on November 5. The counting of votes will take place on November 8.
