Kannada writer UR Ananthamurthy passes away

Kannada writer UR Ananthamurthy has passed away here today.

Dr Sudershan Ballal said, "UR Ananthamurthy is no more. He had been unwell for a long time after developing an infection and fever. He was admitted to hospital 10 days ago with blood pressure problems and breathing difficulties and was on the ventilator for lung failure before passing away."

The Padma Bhushan and Jnanpith awardee, Ananthamurthy was also one of the foremost critics in Kannada.
