Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) chief, Prakash Karat, on Saturday said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its parent body the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) were running a communal campaign during the ongoing parliament polls.
Karat, general secretary of the CPM, said there was anti-incumbency mood prevailing in the country against the Congress party.
"The BJP and the RSS are conducting a very communal campaign, which bodes very ill for the country after the elections also. The second pint I would like to make is that it is clear from the poll process and the elections, which have held so far, that there is strong anti-Congress stand," he said.
He hoped after the polls Congress would support a secular alternative government to keep the BJP and its allies out of power.
"Situation may develop to the extent that finally if there has to be an alternative secular government, the Congress will have to develop a positive attitude to it," he added.
