The Centre has stepped up medical relief operations in flood-hit Jammu and Kashmir.
According to a statement issued by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, 20 specialist doctors from the Delhi Medical Association (DMA) have been sent to serve people in the flood-hit areas of the state.
To improve the outreach services, the ministry has also suggested the need for mobilizing boats for medical supplies.
A control room has been set up in the ministry, which is functioning round the clock.
Meanwhile, Union Minority Affairs Minister Najma Heptullah has announced a Rs.120 crore relief and rehabilitation package for flood-hit Jammu and Kashmir.
Briefing media in New Delhi, Heptullah said a package has been worked out through the implementation of various schemes of her ministry.
The Jammu and Kashmir Government has ordered a complete ban on transfers and postings of its officials till further orders so that they can devote their attention to relief and rehabilitation work.
A chief minister's flood relief fund has also been set up to receive donations for the flood-hit.
Contributions can be remitted in favour of Chief Minister's Flood Relief Fund Account in Jammu and Kashmir Bank.
Meanwhile, rescuers have recovered 16 bodies from flood-hit Jawahar Nagar and adjoining areas of Srinagar.
