A French law that requires a couple to stay in the country for 40 days before getting hitched is causing trouble for Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's wedding plans set for May 24.
A source told Radar Online that the couple were unaware until recently that France required a residency requirement prior to the marriage, adding that the rapper has an apartment in Paris, but he doesn't live there full-time, the Mirror reported.
Meanwhile, the French Embassy in Washington D.C. told the site that all marriages must be performed by a French civil authority in the town in which one of the parties to be married has resided for at least 40 days preceding the marriage.
These requirements cannot be waived, the embassy added.
