The Leh-Srinagar highway will be re-opened for traffic today after remaining closed for more than five months due to heavy snowfall.
Due to unprecedented snow for first time in last five years, clearing up the road on the Leh-Srinagar highway for traffic was a mammoth task this time.
The road usually opens around 15th May but this year, timely planning and sincere efforts have led to opening of the road on 5th May itself.
The opening will facilitate movement of the people and also more importantly, restocking of commodities of daily use as the stocks have depleted over five months of closure from December last year.
