American actor Kyle Jean Baptiste, who made history as the first black actor to play Jean Valjean in a Broadway production of 'Les Miserables,' has died after falling through a mother's fire escape at his mother's home.
Paying tribute to the actor, Broadway veteran Kristin Chenoweth took to Twitter to express her condolence and wrote, "RIP Kyle Jean-Baptiste. My love and hugs to his family. And the cast of @LesMiserables," Us magazine reports.
The singer Josh Groban tweeted "He was just getting started. So sad. My condolences as well to family and cast."
Expressing his condolence, actor Ansel Elgort wrote, "I played opposite Kyle Jean-Baptiste in hairspray in high school at Laguardia," the Insurgent actor tweeted. "What I remember most above his talent was his warmth."
As per sources, Jean-Baptiste, who is best known for becoming the first African American to play Jean Valjean, had fallen from his mother's fourth-floor fire escape in Brooklyn and had passed away in hospital.
