A live hand grenade has been recovered from a bombing site in Attock where Pakistan Punjab Home Minister Shuja Khanzada was assassinated on August 16.

According to the Dawn, the hand grenade has been defused by the bomb disposal squad.

The grenade was discovered Saturday while the compound was being cleared.

A senior security official said that the suicide bomber might have been carrying the undetonated hand grenade.

The officials said the grenade could have been thrown towards the target in the event of the suicide vest failing to detonate.
