Rock legend Lou Reed is recovering after a life-saving liver transplant.
The 'Perfect Day' singer was close to death before major surgery last month, the Sun reported.
His wife Laurie Anderson described the operation as "a big surgery which went very well".
She further said that he was dying and this is a new life for him.
Reed has spoken extensively of his problems with drugs and alcohol over the years.
