Lynyrd Skynyrd former drummer passes away in car crash

The former drummer and founding member hard rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd, Robert Burns Jr., has died in a single-vehicle crash in Georgia, it has been revealed.

Georgia State Patrol spokeswoman Tracey Watson said that Burns' vehicle went off a road just before midnight as it approached a curve near Cartersville, striking a mailbox and a tree, Fox News reported.

According to reports, Burns was not wearing a seatbelt.

Burns' father said that the musician was a product of his mother, so far as manners were concerned and he had the manners that would suit the King of England.

The 64-year-old former drummer was one of five musicians who founded the band in Jacksonville, Florida and the group recorded hit singles namely 'Sweet Home Alabama', 'Gimme Three Steps' and 'Free Bird' with Burns.
