Maharashtra wasted 15 years under Congress-NCP rule: Prime Minister Modi

Highlighting the misrule of Congress-NCP combine in Maharashtra for the last fifteen years, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday urged the people to vote for the BJP and said the upcoming election will decide the state's fate.

"What is important is how will Maharashtra look like, you have to think who can change the fate of Maharashtra. I am your servant, but it is the crores of people of Maharashtra who will change the destiny of Maharashtra," Prime Minister said while addressing a rally at Aurangabad.

Asserting that Maharashtra has lost 15 crucial years, Prime Minister said, "Do you think that Maharashtra has gone back in the last 15 years? Don't you think that the state government has ruined the state in these years? Who is responsible for this?"

"The people of Maharashtra have already decided to free the state from Congress," he added.

Prime Minister Modi also used the occasion to reach out to the youth and women.

"Will you still give your mandate to them?....I want to ask the youth had the last 15 years been of development, would they have had to roam elsewhere, would the peasants have committed suicide, would there have been any rape on women, now we will have to understand and learn that 15 years of Maharashtra have been wasted," said Prime Minister Modi.

"Now, we shouldn't waste even a day and that decision has to be taken on the 15th," he added.

Prime Minister Modi further said Gujarat is Maharashtra's younger brother.

"What is the reason that Maharashtra moved backwards. It is a state which has given jobs to all people across the country. It is the state, which has played the lead role in taking the economy forward," he added.

Prime Minister Modi further said that Maharashtra, which once figured as the number one in development index, now figures dismally.

"If the current government remains in power, then, whatever I send from Delhi to Maharashtra won't reach you," he said.

Hitting out at former chief minister Prithviraj Chavan who had recently shown disinclination of not sharing the dais with him, Prime Minister Modi said, "If I want to do something good for the state, will this government here allow me to do it. They do not even share the stage with me. If the government believes in political untouchability, will it be good for Maharashtra?"

Taking a jibe at the Congress-NCP combine in Maharashtra, Prime Minister Modi said both parties are birds of the same feather.

"The NCP is not nationalist but corrupt. Both parties pushed Maharashtra to the brink of corruption. It is time to save Maharashtra from the tentacles of corruption," he said.

Prime Minister, who launched the 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' earlier this week, also drew the attention of people towards tourism.

He said that cleanliness was an important element which would help bring more tourists and thereby increase employment.

Maharashtra will go to polls on October 15 along with Haryana while the counting will be held on October 19 for both states.
