Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has condoled the loss of lives in the stampede at Patna's Gandhi Maidan and wished for speedy recovery of those injured.
Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi apprised the Home Minister of the latest developments in a telephonic conversation today.
The Home Minister assured Manjhi of all assistance from the Centre, including the medical help, and asked him to provide better medical treatment to those injured.
At least 33 persons were killed and 15 others injured following a stampede at the Gandhi Maidan last evening. The stampede took place when people were returning from the Dussehra celebrations.
The Bihar Chief Minister has announced a compensation of Rs three lakhs to the next of kin of each of the dead, Rs. 50,000 to those seriously injured and Rs. 20,000 to those with less grievous injuries.
The injured have been admitted to the Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) for treatment.
