A majority of Americans are disappointed in Barack Obama's presidency, a new poll has found.

The CBS/ New York Times Poll found that 59 percent of Americans said they are disappointed in Obama's presidency, including 37 percent who are very disappointed.

Only 40 percent of Americans said they were satisfied with the way Obama was leading the country.

Much of this discontent comes from Republicans and independents, but a quarter of Democrats express at least some disappointment.

The poll found that Obama's overall approval rating is now 41 percent, a dip of five points from last month and similar to what it was in December.

Nearly 51 percent disapprove of the job he is doing, up four points from last month.

More specifically, Obama received low marks for his handling of both foreign policy, 39 percent approve, and the economy, 38 percent approve.

Most Americans are basically disillusioned with the way things are going in Washington generally.

Nearly 79 percent of Americans are unhappy about the way things are going in Washignton D.C, including three in 10 who are angry.
