Manjhi's son claims innocence after getting detained by police

Praveen Manjhi, son of former Bihar chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi on Sunday claimed his innocence after getting detained by the police with cash, saying the cash recovered from him was to be used for his under-construction house in Patna.

"I was travelling from Gaya to Patna and was having Rs 4 lakh 65 thousand in cash. My house in Hanuman Nagar (Patna) is under construction, was taking this money for that," said Praveen Majhi.

"I had borrowed this money from my mother and brothers," he added.

Manjhi was detained by the police in Bihar Jehanabad region on Sunday after Rs 4 lakh 65 thousand was recovered from him.

Manjhi has been detained as model code of conduct is effective in the state ahead of the assembly polls.
