The Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) on Sunday alleged that former chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi's family is being targetted as he is a dalit leader.
HAM spokesman Danish Rizwan criticised the Bihar Government for detaining Praveen Manjhi, the son of Jitan Ram Manjhi.
"The state government has asked intelligence and special branch officers to keep surveillance on Manjhi ji's family because he is a dalit leader. We oppose this, Election Commission has to look into the matter," HAM spokesman Danish Rizwan told ANI.
"A construction work is going on at his residence, and the collector of the region is troubling him on the directions of state government," he added.
Praveen Manjhi was detained by the police today in Jehanabad after Rs. 4, 65,000 was recovered from him.
Praveen has been detained as the Model Code of Conduct is effective in Bihar ahead of the assembly polls.
