Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata has admitted that only winning the Premier League title the next year would make up for the club's disastrous season as they finished at the seventh place in the league this season.

Mata, who became the club's record signing when he joined from Chelsea for 37.1 million pounds in January, said that if in United, one does not win the Premier League one year they know that they have have to do it the next one and the squad will get ready for that.

According to the Mirror, Mata said that their goal in United's final match of the season helped them avoid a defeat in Southampton, although the score and their final position on the table is nothing that the squad feels proud of.

The Spaniard said that he believes it is fair to congratulate Manchester City for winning the title, adding that United would try to bring the celebrations to their side next year.

Mata added that he is feeling good and is looking forward to more, adding that the 31 games he has played this season has not been enough.

United ended the Premier League season at the seventh place on the table, which is their lowest finish in the league history, and they have also missed out the Champions League completely for the next season, the report added.
