Micromax joins hands with Microsoft, Qualcomm

India's second largest Smartphone manufacturer, Micromax launches Canvas Win series, in collaboration with tech giant Microsoft and the leading chipset provider for Windows, Qualcomm.

The new smartphones are said to be a collaboration of 'work and play'.

Executive Chairman of Micromax, Sanjay Kapoor said "Micromax's innovative demeanour and belief in strong partnerships has culminated in today's launch powered by Microsoft's UI enriching platform and Qualcomm's next generation processor."

He added that "We will continue to introduce products and services that simplify and enhance the data experience of consumers across markets"

Bhaskar Pramanik, Microsoft Chairman (India) said "I congratulate Micromax on the launch of their first Windows Phone today, Micromax understands the Indian market and they can reach Indian youth and professionals"

He added that "the new OS, windows 8.1, is designed around the consumer, and is suitable for both 'work' and 'play'."

Meanwhile, Dr Avneesh Agarwal, President of Qualcomm India and South Asia, explained about the processor the new series will sport, which is said to be very power friendly.

Agarwal said "We are excited to collaborate with Microsoft and Micromax. Qualcomm Snapdragon processors are designed to support an exceptional level of integration between hardware, software which would offer users a comprehensive set of business and entertainment applications" (ANI)
