Commenting on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's statement that some tough decisions are going to be taken to improve the economic situation of the country, Communist Party of India (CPI) leader D. Raja on Sunday said that the former needed to come clear on those decisions.

"Only when the budget is out, can we see the real measures that the government wants to take, to put the economy back on track. The UPA II left the economy in shambles, and having said that, I think Modi needs to clarify as to what economic measures the government wants to take," said Modi.

"There are big challenges for them as the Congress government completely failed. Narendra Modi has talked about tough measures, but he has not clarified them. So, we have to wait for the budget," he said.

"As of now, Modi has just indicated about the harsh and tough measures, but we will have to wait and see. When the government thinks of measures to put the economy on track, it should not think of subjecting people onto more hardships," he added.

Yesterday, Modi said that some tough economic decisions are going to be taken to improve the economic situation of the country.

He hit out at the previous UPA Government for its handling of the economy.

"I have taken over the reins of the country in circumstances when there is nothing left behind by the previous government. They left everything empty. The country's financial health has hit the bottom," said Modi, while addressing BJP workers in Taligaon in Goa.
